Down with the Raider Klan Mafia, Purrp and his cohorts have developed a strong cult following with their outsider status, bizarro approach, and prolific mixtape output, though time will tell if Purrp's unusual music resonates with wider audiences. To compare him to more established artists, he's kind of a hybrid of Brotha Lynch Hung, Dudley Perkins, ODB, and Afroman, with old-school Three Six Mafia and Schoolly D thrown in for good measure. Though he's from South Florida, his music rarely veers into your typical Dirty South sound. He's got a mellow, almost-whispered flow and subdued, low-BPM self-production loaded with unconventional beats, weird sound effects, and moody instrumentation.

While many upstart emcees lean on volume and aggression to get their voices heard, Purrp goes the opposite route. Mysterious Phonk is SpaceGhostPurrp's official major-label debut, introducing the uninitiated masses to his strange yet compelling, hyper-original style.
